What NOT to Wear

  • Please do not wear pants or skirts through which any underwear is visible. It's just not classy.
  • Dresses and skirts cannot be shorter than the length of your arms by your side.
  • Do not wear shorts or skinny jeans. Jeans are not acceptable attire for student teachers.

What to Wear
  • Female student teachers should wear dress pants for the most part. If they prefer to wear dresses, they must make sure the dress or skirt is longer than the length of their fingertips with their arms at their side (as shown in the picture to the right).

New York & Company has a great selection of pants and skirts for student teachers. The clothing is well-priced and good quality.

  • If you're on a budget, Old Navy has a selection of khaki pants at very reasonable prices.

  • If it is hot during the warmer months of student teaching, it is acceptable to wear capri pants or dresses. Just make sure that the dress is long enough (as with the skirts) and that it does not reveal too much (especially in the front).
